This actually sounds like the brake switch is causing the problem, due to the addition of the CC not shutting off.

The shift interlock on the steering wheel column for the steering wheel shift versions.

If you have the FX4 -Lux model, the interlock is in the console for the floor shifter.
Yup, I'd suspect the brake light switch here too. All signs point to it don't they?

Get someone to stand behind you and tell you when you get brake lights as you gradually apply pressure to the brake pedal. They should come on right away - before there is any appreciable movement or pressure. Have the engine running when you do this, but the transmission can be in park.
