cleaning line-x

I have some staining in my bed from some kitty litter and a small spot where a ball hitch sat in the rain and dripped some rust onto the liner.... I can not get this stuff off of the bed liner and dont have a dealer down here to offer advice.

The only thing that i have tried is soapy water and a bristle brush. Ihave not tried anything else because I do not want to ruin it.

The liner is just standard black line-x without the xtra.

I had some metal in my bed that rusted after it rained. I used a product similiar to wesley's bleche white and scrubbed the heck out of it. After about 3x's it got most of it out

To get the rust out (and some other junk), you can use CLR which is available at grocery stores, Wallymarts, Home Depot, etc. Follow it up with a protectorant like 303 Aerospace or Just Once (justonce.com)

...with black Krylon spray paint. Do NOT use rattlecan bedliner stuff, it won't stick

Another suggestion here. I just had a rust issue on some ceramic floor tile in rent house we have. I tried several cleaners including the C L R without much success. It occured to me I needed something with a little grit so I tried using Fast Orange hand cleaner. It worked like a charm and removed the rust totally and with minor effort. Might work and it shouldn't hurt your line x either.

If none of that other stuff works, you could try a very tiny bit of ospho. It should turn the rust black. It won't remove it, but causes iron oxide (rust) to chemically change to iron phosphate which is black. I'm not certain what it would do the line-X. You can buy it at most hardware stores.

if anything.... I just leave it. I plan on getting a bedliner to put over the top of it anyways.
