Hey Folks,

I picked up a 2000 F-150 supercab and it needs new speakers something fierce. The young lad at the local Future Shop tells me that only 6x8 speakers will fit the stock location. Is this true? Could a guy make a set of 61/2 or 6x9's fit without much modding?
Also are Alpine type S a decent speaker? There on sale here right now.
Oh and they will likely be matched up to Alpine or Pioneer deck...that I haven't bought yet.

I like the Type-S alot. 6.5's will fit without much modifications. 6x9's will take a decent bit of work.

 

6.5's are your best choice or aftermarket 6x8's (OEM size)... 6x9's take a bit of trimming and modifying but can be done if your determined as long as they are not overly deep... not much room to work with behind the mounting points... My 97 and 98's both run 6x8 replacements and sound excellent. my 2000 has 6.5 components with removed tweeters located on the dash area, and 6x9's in individual boxes. sounds great easy to put in... all personal preference tho.

 

Thanks for taking the time fellas. I'll grab a pair of the 6.5 Alpines and see how the install goes. If it goes well I'll change out the back set as well. Again thanks for the help.

Hi I have a 2003 Supercab, the one with the rear suicide doors. Are the rear door speakers the same size as the fronts? Thanks!
