Remote Starter - Factory or Aftermarket?

aftermarket remote starters will always give you the best quality and features if they are a quality brand, at work i install nothing but compustar pro 9000 series and have less than 1% return rate. when we were installing Ford rmst systems we had nothing but problems because they are cheap pieces of crap.
and if you use a aftermarket rmst you DON'T lose a second key if the installer puts in a good transponder over ride kit. i use www.idatalink.com data kits for all our installs.
also your warranty will not be void with a aftermarket rmst system, unless the root cause of the problem is the rmst system, so if you get a crappy install and it causes problems then you may have to pay to get it fixed, but if it is installed properly all connections soldered and connected correctly you shouldn't have problems.
i do 300+ installs a year and not once has a customer be denied warranty.

My dealer will be installing a remote start for my Platinum when it arrives. The company they use is a one-fob deal. There's like 4 or 6 bottons on the fob. You do not need to carry two key fob's around.
To me carrying two fobs around is idiotic. :o If that's the way the factory remote start comes, perhaps it's a good thing they didn't allow it to be ordered on the Platinums. I have enough keys in my pocket for work, home, car, etc as it is.

The only single key fob (for keyless and remote start) unit offered from Ford is the 6-button one which is also a alarm, remote start, and keyless entry together. It's an available accessory from your dealer. They used to have a 4-button system which was just remote start and keyless entry (no alarm), but it's discontinued (the Code Alarm CA-530 is the same unit though still for sale).
If you factory order the remote start, you just get the single-button remote start fob which requires you to carry 2 fobs (original keyless entry fob and remote start fob).
We went over this so many times now...

The 2 way aftermarket is way better than any factory R/S system...I like ocnfirmation and the LCD readout for the alarm and aux options.
If my truck interior is below 55 degress the heated seats come on automatically which is very sweet.
I also put it in myself and i soldered all my connections- if you do it right you will never have a problem.

i think the viper was the same version as the clifford model i wanted. Im waiting on clifford to get back to me about being able to make them work with the platinum. They are ok with every other model but they are still having issues with the platinum code hoping system. im gonna call them and chase this up.

I have a Viper 2 way remote start that i took out of my 06 when I totaled it. I just recently had it re-installed in my 09. The only big problem I had was I had to buy a new pats device. The 06 was analog the new one is digital and can be reflashed for future vehicles. I have had noe problems with the install at all and it works great. As for the key fobs, I only use the viper fob as it does everything the factory one does. Cost me additional $160 for pats and install.

The 09 does not have an alarm system on it. The dealer book only shows that a single button system will go onto them but the six button will too. The six button system is a all-in-one remote start/keyless/alarm. You can completely turn off the alarm feature on it if you don't wish to have it. I have installed the six button system on 30+ platinums already.
