You may get an answer here. You may get several answers, as a matter of fact.

But, truthfully, you should contact Pioneer customer service and let them help you troubleshoot the problem. I have received lots of good information from them on my yet to be installed P4000.

Here is the customer service telephone number: 800-421-1404

I did call them .. he told me that it may be because of region code or the parking cable not connected..

What's the system doing? Blue screen, and sound? Does it play DVD's OK?

Was your system pro installed, or did you do it yourself? Either way, do you know what was done with the parking brake connection? That would be my first guess... It cannot just be grounded - the unit needs to see ground, then open, then grounded again to allow playback. Search this forum for some good answers on how to arrange this.

If DVD's play OK, and it's just DIVX / VCD's - I'm guessing they were encoded with a codec the P4000 doesn't understand...

If its a bypass problem (prolly is). Then just go grab a relay from an O'Reilly's.

Wire 30 - Pk. Brake wire from HU.
87 - Ground
85 - Ground
86 - Remote wire from HU.

This will automatically bypass it everytime you get in. Oh and the numbers correspond to terminals on the relay.

You're looking for a bypass - there's been a few discussions on it in here... Using a relay is directly above this post; using a pushbutton was discussed in the thread about AVH-P4000 install pics (page or two back in the forum)

I have a Q about that mod. A buddy gave me his old single DIN Jensen, I know not the greatest quality but it was free. You can permanently unlock them with the remote which of coarse does not exist anymore because he said it "blew up" lol. The manual seemed to need 3 seconds or so of no ground connection, then back to holding ground. My question is this: will the momentary relay truck still work. It is too dark to go try it, but any advise there Low_e_Red? Sorry to jack but it seemed somewhat appropriate timing.

Nah, sure wont. What model Jensen is it, I have quite a collection of JSN remotes.

That relay idea is great. Ive got a little switch wired up now that I flip when needed. I probably wont ever do the relay mod because I rarely use the vid portion, but a great idea nuntheless (sp?)

A relay (Bosch style is most typical) is an electrical switch. They are not hard to hook up, usually only 4 pins are used.

is this the remote wire that would go to the amp? if so, what if you have an amp hooked up already? would you just tap into the wire? thanks

Yes and yes. Now, if using more than 2 amplifiers in the rear a second relay may be needed due to current demands from the amps and the additional relay. Each relay uses 150mA to energize the coils, and amps also use transistors on the boards to allow the amps to "turn on", these also can draw a decent bit. That will then exceed the 500mA most HU's are capable of. (WARNING! IF USING AN ALPINE HU AND MORE THAN 1 AMPLIFIER, USE A RELAY OR RISK RUINING YOUR REMOTE FEED ON THE DECK!!!)
