Exclamation 4.6 Triton Spark Plug Change

Does anyone know the best way to go about changing the plugs in the 4.6. I have over 90K on my 97 and know the plugs need changing but I can't stand the thought of taking it to a shop. I have always done all of my own work and did manage to get 2 of them changed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I love my Ford but they could have made this engine a little easier to work on. Thanks, LilMan

Be prepared to take your time and remember to coat the threads of your new plugs with an anti-seize compound before installing. It took me a little over 1.5 hours to do mine.

I am getting ready to change mine. I received my Bosch Plat +4s a couple of days ago and am waiting on my Magnecor 8.5mm wires to arrive. I have a friend that just changed plugs on his 5.4 so I will get himto assist (with the back two).

How about tips for a '99 250SD with the 5.4L? It seems as if I will have to park my bottom inside the engine compartment to get to the rear plugs, that is if I can get to them at all.

Just changed plugs and wires. The truck only has 31,700 miles but I have been driving it for 3 years so I decided I would base the change on time rather than miles. I installed the Magnecor 8.5mm wires and Bosch Plat +4 plugs. The job took about 3 hours. The worst part was the #4 wire/boot. The boots are tough to get off and just as tough to install the new one.

What are the prices on the Bosch Plat+4s. A friend of mine at work with a GMC went to NAPA to get new plugs for his truck. AC Delco plat plugs for his were to be 15 bucks a piece. Hope the Bosch Plat+4s arent that expensive. Mine is Triton 4.6 Thanks for the help
