is there a radiator plug on these trucks? i cant find the damn thing anywhere. Or do i hafta take off the lower hose (id rather not cus then i hafta buy a new clamp)?

im workin on a coolant flush

The stock Rads come with a drain, alot of the aftermarket Rads do not have a drain. Did you buy this truck used and maybe the previous owner had to change out the Rad.

 

i was sure it had one, can anyone point me in the right area? That plastic thing that goes under the radiator is keeping me from finding it

pull that plastic/ rubber flap down first. then if your laying under your truck look at the pasenger side of rad and you will see a white plastic piece its on the innerside not quite on the bottom but a few inches up and you just loosen that and thats your plug bro

 

Not sure about the 04 , but 97 -03 models, you just reach under the passenger side wheel well/ plug a 3/8 hose into the drain port and turn the plastic screw until it opens the port and coolant begins to draining from the radiator (Also remove ET cap to help drain). Then remove Block plug and drain the block.

If your talking about the Radiator twist plug, mine backed right out no problem.

 

Yea, they do break- Then you need a big allen wrench to get them out. I'm on my second one.

The outside snaps off - Did that a few years ago, finally replaced it a few months ago lol. Rock auto has them for like 6 bucks.

Mine didn't leak after it broke. - It just wasn't so easy to back off after that happened. Course, you break quite a few things working on your truck in sub zero temps. Just wait until one of fingers snap off.. That smarts.

 

Just checked my records, maybe flushing my system in August did have an effect how that drain plug came out. Remembering back, it was real hot that day. Who knows? I do remember that I didn't have a problem with it.

 

The outside little flange deal breaks off. When it breaks, the rest of the part remains inside the port

It's not a big deal tho. The inside of the part is hollow and hexed to a certain point - An allen wrench fits it perfectly, so it comes right out and loosens that way if you should snap it off- still functional.

 

Not to change the subject, but...... where is the plug on the 04-08s?

 

If you have seriously looked for it and can't find it, I'll look it up. But if you didn't even look , I don't want to go thru the trouble.

Did you look /passenger side /bottom corner?

 

ive physically looked and googled the crap out of it and cant find it, maybe its so obvious im overlooking it

It's exactly where I said it was a few posts up -
