Some of those pics are pretty small. I might have missed the thread, but what did you do to make that work? I'd like to do that to my gauges and A/C lights as well.

Not hard but time consuming

Unfortunely all of the lights onthe the door, a\c shifter where soldered in place of the green ones.Sometimes it was easy as removin the green led and soldern in the blue. But the shifter was pretty tough,i installed a led under every shift position so the color would be even all the way across. But it's not to hard though,I knew nothing about leds,or solderin but I really wanted the look so I set out to learn on the net all that I needed to know about soldern, resistors, etc. It took me awhile to complete it all do to my work hours but my truck isn;t a daily driver so it was no matter.Just set out to get it done and it turned out pretty good.A word of advise, don't get in a hurry, and if you get convused on how to pop a panel or what is this, the guys on this sit are a wealth of info and I accredit this mod to there help to me.

Few things

On the door switches which most of the lights are the doors,I had completely removed the small circuit board from the switch and found the - and + term that comes that gives it illlumination and put two leds in line (with the right polarity)and one resistor of the right size and solderd them in.I'll take a pick of my drivers door switch this week and post it up so that Itt'll help more.

List of must haves (at least I had to have)-
Gun type solden iron(pens are just to dang slow)
small needle nose pliers
Small screw driver for poping switches apart
small side cutter and end cuters(they look like catfish skinners)
Don't drink alot of coffee
Don't get in a hurry
Don't over heat the leds they cant take much
It cool to have a 12v battery on the work place or some way to test them out
Have to know wha size resistor to use in each aplication,1 led, 2led or four each take a differnt size.
Don't buy them from rat shack they are cheaper online (besthongkong or something like that)
3mm work good in small switches,5mm in some places like the shifter, fan speed.
If I get the time I'll try to do a write up or a walk through but it will probaly get buryed under everyone's elses threads

Hope I can help

allenm100, I'm starting this mod for my truck this month. The only bulb that I have changed so far is the blinking security light in the front of the hood (which wasn't too hard). It was recommended to use a 3mm bulb for that job, but I got away with using a 5mm. My question is since radioshack and local stores don't carry 3mm (only as small as 5mm) can I get away with using 5mm? I probably want to do it by the book and use 3mm, but was just wondering.

To be perfectly honest, since I'm starting this project very soon, I may just have to PM you from time to time if I'm having trouble or need some help. I hope that that's okay with you and if you won't mind helping me if I need it. Thanks a bunch, your truck looks great and I can't wait for mine to look similar!! Keep up the good work!

Stomp the rats!

You could use the 5mm form rat shack but you would come out alot cheaper to go to an online store like superbriteled.com they are way cheaper and briter.Just get like 50 of so of the 3mm, because I promise you,you will mess up alittle!

O and ofcoarse well need pics also
