Stock 1/4 mile times for 2001 Lightning?

Hi:

Was curious what kind of times these things really turn while stock. MM&FF claims 13.3 -which sounds a little fishy to me. However, Ford and other rags claim 13.90 which sounds too slow.

My buddy's '99 went 13.90s stock (and it was his first time at the track ever!)

Anybody take theirs to the track before modifiying it?

Steve

Of course it all depends on weather, driver, etc. but the believable numbers seem to be mid to high 13's. Some places could get better numbers (e.g. fall in New England), while some could be far worse (summer in Phoenix). These trucks seem very susceptible to varying conditions...

Last week, I was only able to manage a 14.30 @ 97mph. That was in high 80deg with high humidity. Plus the track is notorious for bad prep, so no traction off the line. Most everyone that night seemed to be off by .3-.5.

My bone stock '01 did: 13.896 @ 99.8. I ran it for the first time at a very *****y track where you have to actually roll off the line for about 2 seconds then gun it. And, this track is NEVER prepped. Traction was definitely a problem. I truly think that i get better traction on the street than at this track. I'm sure if i was at a great track, that was actually prepped before and during runs, i would pull a 13.6xx.

My 01 ran 13.78 @ 99.98 MPH bone stock with 16XX miles. That was on a hot lap on a track with crappy traction.

The best I did in bad conditions was 14.5 @ about 95. We're talking 100 degrees with high humidity. I had a guy at the Heat Wave car show down in Austin this past weekend tell me that his friend's dad pulled a 12.8 on a stock '01. I guess they forgot to start the clock at the green on that run, because a stock '01 will not put up those numbers!! You need some mods to go there!

My best stock run to date was a 13.586@101.66. Great track prep, and decent weather didn't hurt. That was with 1100 miles on the truck.

My 01 L ran a 13.9 at 98.8 with 248 miles on the odometer and 95 degree weather with 90% humidity. Best short time was a 2.14 . Weather always hot here in Miami. Lots of mods coming soon including N2O so not that worried about hot days. Ha Ha

My first and only time to the track gave times very similar to some of the times above.......13.83 @ 99.97. Air was ok, about 70, but the track was greasy, messy and slick. My stock truck had around 5,000 miles on it when we went to the track.

Ford claims 13.9 at 100mph. The magazine article you refer to said that they had 50 degree air that day.... I think my truck would run that time in that kind of oxygen-rich environment.

My stock times

Two runs:

13.648 w/ 2.097 60 foot (bogged slightly)

13.680 w/ 2.116 60 foot (spun like hell)

This was at sea level in the low 80's with high humidity. I didn't get any mph's due to a malfunction. In colder weather with a better 60', 13.4's-13.5's are possible.
