Stock 1/4 mile times for 2001 Lightning?
Hi:
Was curious what kind of times these things really turn while stock. MM&FF claims 13.3 -which sounds a little fishy to me. However, Ford and other rags claim 13.90 which sounds too slow.
My buddy's '99 went 13.90s stock (and it was his first time at the track ever!)
Anybody take theirs to the track before modifiying it?
Steve

My bone stock '01 did: 13.896 @ 99.8. I ran it for the first time at a very *****y track where you have to actually roll off the line for about 2 seconds then gun it. And, this track is NEVER prepped. Traction was definitely a problem. I truly think that i get better traction on the street than at this track. I'm sure if i was at a great track, that was actually prepped before and during runs, i would pull a 13.6xx.

The best I did in bad conditions was 14.5 @ about 95. We're talking 100 degrees with high humidity. I had a guy at the Heat Wave car show down in Austin this past weekend tell me that his friend's dad pulled a 12.8 on a stock '01. I guess they forgot to start the clock at the green on that run, because a stock '01 will not put up those numbers!! You need some mods to go there!

My first and only time to the track gave times very similar to some of the times above.......13.83 @ 99.97. Air was ok, about 70, but the track was greasy, messy and slick. My stock truck had around 5,000 miles on it when we went to the track.
Ford claims 13.9 at 100mph. The magazine article you refer to said that they had 50 degree air that day.... I think my truck would run that time in that kind of oxygen-rich environment.
