Question New Receiver Compatable W/ CD Changer?

Has anybody done this- changed from the stock Deck/Receiver to a new receiver, while keeping the stock CD changer? I'm gonna do this eventully, but I wanted to know what needed to be done, how you could control the changer from the new deck.

Angry Not for an 2000 Expy

I called Crutchfield, looking for a new HU for my 2000 Expy XLT. I have a 6 CD Changer in the center console. They said they do not carry a aftermarket HU that is compatible with my OEM changer.

I don't know about the '97, but thought I would pass this along.

There are no h/u that will work with factory changer
the factory changer is a clarion i was told and a clarion
h/u wont even work with it.Its weird though cause u can
buy a aftermarket changer to work with the factory radio.
I bought a 10 disc kenwood changer and a adapter to work
with factory radio its great all the controls on the radio
work just like the fact changer. Why cant they do it the other
way around?
