I have a 5.4 V8 supercrew with the roush legal dual exhaust, i was wondering if a roush intake would be a good buy? Does an intake make any sound difference? What would i get with the intake? thanks.

 

Anyone have a roush intake? pros and cons?

 

I have one on my 08 FX-4. It added a bunch of air flow. I put it on a couple of weeks before I put on my Roush OR exhaust. You can hear a different tone in the engine for sure. I am waiting on my VMP Custom Tunes now, should have them next week!

 

You need to do a search on the subject of 2004's running lean. I would not put an aftermarket intake on a 2004 or early 2005 without a custom tune. Many came from the factory in a near lean condition and with the added air, you may do some damage.

 

The Roush intake is made by Airaid and as bluejay432000 mentioned in the above post, the Airaid intake was causing many members trucks to run lean, stall out, etc....

I would leave it stock or get the Airaid MIT with an AEM Dry-Flow Performance Filter.

 

Get custom tunes and you will be ok running it. There is a little bit more noise from the intake doing its job but I love the sound of it. Picture of mine installed below

Yes it will. You Mark LT is pretty much identical to an F-150 as far as replacing things with aftermarket exhaust, intake, etc....

 

I wonder who makes that for Roush. Is that the same as an Airaid?

An exhaust, no, it only affects the warranty on the exhaust system. Intake, yes, if anything in the engine breaks or goes bad that could have been caused by the intake, they do not have to warranty.

 

I have the Roush CAI also and I have no problems. Was a breeze to install too.

 

Yes blue you are correct. Airaid makes the intake and all they do is give it swap out the words airaid with roush. Even the filter end cap has been changed over to the words roush. At the time Woodhouse had the best deal on these. Not sure now though

 

ok, so im reading along with what everyone is saying, and i saw that Bluejay said that installing a Roush/AirRaid CAI can cause harm to the engine? is there anymore insight on this? what can be done to correct it before installing a CAI?

 

The best way to be safe so your truck doesn't run lean is to order some custom tunes. Once you get your tunes then install the cai. This is the best bet for your truck.
