Don't you just love the way that they give awards based on advertising numbers and features before actual production vehicles are available? If they actually DROVE any of these trucks, they are handpicked pre-production mules.

 

I don't know what you are talking about. They just drove these trucks at Ford this week. Dodge also had a similar event.

Considering they are on the lots now, I doubt they were pre-production models.

 

The TAWA Rodeo is not the same thing as the Ford-hosted thing they had in Michigan. It was held in Fort Worth, and there is no proof that they had production trucks. Maybe they did, but then again, maybe they didn't.

Magazine - published Oct 17. No way could that have been a production truck. It most likely came out of Ford's pre-production press pool. Those are hand-picked.

Hand picked or not, it applies to all, and how much difference does "hand picked" make? The design, materials, and construction format for pre-production and production trucks is identical.

You think that grocery stores don't hand pick their fruit for their ads? You think that ANY ad doesn't involve hand picking?

Speaking of someone not getting a good night's sleep... I didn't. Coming in and reading this type of a rip & roar first thing doesn't put me in a good mood either.

The comment that was made was very fair to be had in the thread. You responding to it is fair but, ripping it in this fashion just because you didn't see eye to eye with it isn't good for your reputation, the site, or this thread. Come on, Lumadar!

 

I can see where he is coming from though. People just seem to be finding excuses as to why the ford's are doing so well. Be it a different gear ratio, Hand picked trucks or engine size's. most of these people are even ford owners. Ok i can see some of the people with the last gen trucks being annoyed at seeing the truck improved so much and outdateing there model and i would be the same but to find reasons for it not to do well is just stupid.

 

I'm not trying to push excuses. However, I am trying to play devil's advocate here, which is not unreasonable. The 09 competition has been out longer than the Fords, and we may not be on a level playing field yet. If you haven't noticed, I have been very supportive of the 09 F-150 in other threads. I've been reading reviews of vehicles in various magazines for over 40 years, and have learned to be skeptical. I'd put a lot more credibility in the TAWA rodeo than I would put into a magazine such as Popular Mechanics, especially this early in the game.

I'm hardly annoyed at the new trucks showing improvement. I would expect them to be improved - if they aren't, they would not be worth doing all the R&D on. I'm not one of the ones complaining about ugly taillights, tailgates, and grilles. That's all just personal esthetic preferences and have nothing to do with the build quality, comfort, and performance of the truck.

 

Like I said, I have no problem with his 'point'; I have a problem with his communication skills within the post where he states his 'point'.

Starting it off with a great big 'WTF' isn't the way to really communicate a 'point' unless you're aggressively proselatizing your 'point'.

That was my 'point'.
