Question 5.4 main bearings

Does the 5.4L use the same main bearings as the 4.6L or are they heavier duty?

Cool

HI!... PSYCHO : The 5.4 and the 4.6 both have a 2.6572 main journal diameter. So the answer is yes, they both use the same main bearings. That is what a modular engine means. All the triton engines 5.4 - 4.6- 6.8 use a lot of the same parts. That does not mean that the 5.4 main bearings are weak. Just think that the V-10 uses the same bearing size also.

Hi Neal, the reason why i asked is on the Chevy site they were downing the 5.4 as light on bearings for heavy hauling. They said the bearings in the 5.3 are way better.

What Chevy site are you on? From what I have been reading on pickup.com and edmunds.com the 4.8 5.3 and 6.0 are having serious problems with bearings. Check out the thread "Going back to Foreign" and read what I posted there.
