Truck is a 2007 F350 PSD STD cab 8' bed with quite a few mods.
But my question is about audio, and where I can go from where I am at now. Currenty I have:
Alpine CDA 9856 HU
MTX Blue Thunder 50x4PRO
Polk MOMO 6x8s front
Infinity Refrence 6x8s rear
Alpine MRP450
Kicker 10" CVT
The bass is good. REAL good. But ever since my friend got 2 ported 12" L7s in the back of his Tahoe Ive been feeling a bit, well, girly. So Im wondering what exactly I can fit back there. Ive seen Kicker makes a Solo ported truck style box with a 10", but Im not sure that would fit behind the seat. And cutting a hole in the bed is very much out of the question. Theres a transfer tank there that isnt going anywhere, and its a work truck not a street queen. Currently each amp is running off its own battery, so upping the wire isn't really an issure.

Any suggestions?

 

I bet those ported kickers sound incredibly sloppy.

If you like your bass now, just keep it. Being ridiculously ghetto-blastin loud is NOT cool.

But if you really want to top your friend's system, you are going to have to remove your backseat to fit a big (and i mean BIG) ported box. Toss in a pair of FI BTLs and give them 4k watts, you'll be good.

EDIT: just saw that its a standard cab. Without getting EXTREM you will not top your friend's SPL. Sorry.

 

I know I wont top it - its physically impossible. But I would like more. SQ isnt real important to me, seeing as how a straight piped diesel is pretty darn loud on its own and pretty much drowns out any music that isnt played loud enough. Is it possible to fit a Solo or another very powerful sub behind the backseat, in a custom box or whatnot?

 

If you have the time and will, deaden your truck. I have a loud exhaust too and 35" mud terrain tires and after i deadened my truck and closed up the vents and other wierd holes, its amazing how damn quiet it is inside. With windows up i can barely tell i even have aftermarket exhaust and i can barely hear the tires until im going 75+.

Deaden your truck and put 2 slim 12s behind the seat in a sealed box. It will be pretty damn loud and about as good as you're gonna get.

 

Thanks that sounds like a wrothwhile idea, Im just not sure I would have the time to tear apart the interior and deaden it. The slim 12 idea sounds like its the best Im gonna get with the space I have. Would 1 12 in a ported box have a similar SPL to 2 12s in a sealed box?

 

Just let me cut a hole in the back of your cab and front of your bed. I will build you a box that looks just like a toolbox in the bed, diamond plate and all. I guarantee you will out do him. 2 RE XXX 18's are always louder than 2 L7 12's.

 

That sounds like alot more money in labor and box design than Im willing to spend. And a hole is very much out of the question. Ive heard alot of people rave about RE though. Do they make any shallow mount options?

Wow those shallow REs have a really good excursion, and if theyre reasonably priced Ill ***** one up in a heartbeat. I will definetly be considering that. I just found a custom audio shop nearby so Ill head over there tomorrow afternoon and see what they can do for me.

 

So Ive now started looking around at these internet only companies which I previously thought ranged from junk to possibly-not-even-real. Needless to say Ive been pleasantly surprised with the quality and technology thats available out there for a very reasonable price. I noticed Stereo Integrity is comming out with a new shallow mount BM series woofer that can take 500 RMS for $149. Thats one heck of a deal. Is this thing any good?

 

Its not out yet, so nobody knows if its good or not. Nick @ SI has a prototype in testing and he says its wonderful, comparable to the v3 mag in SQ but drops lower, and has some serious output for .5 cubes and being 3.5" deep. But then again, hes selling the product. It comes out in 2-3 months. I will be buying the first pair of anybody.

 

Im looking to make this purchase within the week, so that wont work. And I cannot find the RE SL Series for sale anywhere. Is MA Audio any good? Theyve got a shallow sub with 24mm of excursion and 500 RMS handling for $110.

 

my 12" ssd took care of some l7's in a prefab ported box off a bxi2006
and i just had a 2.1 cu ft @33hz off a little bxi1206

now i just put in a fully loaded 18" btl, in a 6 cu ft @ 34hz still running off the bxi1206 and i have no complaints! ridiculously loud and clear! cant wait til next week to order me a sundown saz3kd = DDDDD
