What is everyone running for Subs? Any Custom boxes?

I am in the car audio business and have done a few under the seat installs on f-150's and cut the back of the cab out of a couple for big installs. But I was wondering if anyone in a crew cab has removed part of the seat to do a custom box. I am thinking of taking out the 40 part of the 40/60 split and either doing a RE XXX 18 or a Rockford Fosgate Type RF 15. We did a XXX in a crew cab chevy like this and it turned out awesome. What do you guys think???

Yea, I did one of those for a guy. Still doesnt get me enough airspace. I want as much SPL as I can get, and I can go with out that part of the seat. My 2 kids will still fit on the other part of the seat. I was just curious if anyone here had done this. Also just curious what people have gotten for SPL under the seat? Anyone ever even metered a system under the seat? I was just wonderin what everyone was runnin period.

I cant see there being enough room for an 18" XXX where the 40 part of the seat is. I had a single 12 where the 40 section was in the back of my 99 Scab. Didnt really like the 'one sidedness' of it. How about bucket seats on either side in the rear, with a nice fiberglass enclosure inbetween them?

Does your shop sell RE? If I worked at a shop I would probably use something my shop sold, assuming it isnt crap. Rolling shop promoter, plus I assume you would get a nice discount on equipment since you work there.

I know with the seatlift that Weazel mentioned, there were guys fitting woofers right under 7 inches deep, getting around 2.3ish cu ft. total. Obviously not enough for most 15s or 18s, but decent space for most 12s, one or two.

Just depends how big you wanna go

Took me awhile to type the last post, didnt see this.

Probably the most impressive under the seat install Ive seen on here was Brian's old setup. Two 12" SI Mags sealed ran off a Zapco C2K. That was probably a mid 140s or a little more setup...set up for SQ as the main goal...

Big numbers from an under the seat install are just hard to come by with such little space, and a 12" woofer is about the max you can fit before the box starts protruding out from under the seat, taking up any space for your feet.

Hmmm. Well I havent done any measurements for the 18. Just kinda hoping i could make it work since I have a few laying around. But yea we sell RE. We also sell a lot of other products, that is why I was wondering what worked best for everyone else. I was actually just thinking about doing two buckets with a center console. Anybody done that? My first idea was to cut out the back and do 2 XXX 18's. I dont wanna go that route though. Not sure how well two front buckets would fit in the back.

Crap, we dont sell crap. LOL. We are a specialty shop. We only get the higher end stuff. No jensen or Dual or any of that. We did however make our name on Lightning Audio. I know it is a walmart brand, but there high end stuff is really nice, especially for the price.

Ive seen it done on the pre 04s that had the two smaller rear buckets, and on some Superdutys. The smaller rear jumper/bucket seats provided enough room to fit a 12 or two or three downfiring. Never seen it done in the new style Screw though. Im thinking two front buckets might not leave much room in between for much of anything though. Maybe multiple 10s unless you can manage to fire them in a direction that allows you a bigger plane for a larger woofer.

Sounds like this might be your daily driver? I wouldnt want to do a blow through either.

I actually was the first one to recieve a quad coil 12. I put it in my 95 eclipse I had at the time with 4 Lightning audio Storm 1000.1's on it. Drove it cranked up everyday for about a year with no issues. We used 4 of the quad coil 15's in our competition van for quite a while. Obviously we blew a few. We ran 16 Storm 2000.1's in the van. I cant believe they quit making the storms. We sold a lot of them. They are basically impossible to get a hold of now. Our latest sub is the old rockford type RF's. That is what I will probably put in my truck. You can check out our old van and new van, plus some of our installs at nwaudio.net.

Yes they are. When I was figuring out what to do with my current substage I was looking into the TC3k woofers (Eclipse Ti, Storm, etc) and almost got my hands on a pair of 10s. Some of the few Storms Ive seen for sale lately.
