JVC NX7000 Install Help
JVC NX7000 Install Help
Does anyone have the JVC NX7000 installed in a 06 F150? I purchased this radio and am having problems installing it...
1. Because the radio has a detatchable face, it need clearance at the bottom of the radio to swing open. This means I need to install the radio sticking out about 1/2-3/4 inch...it just doesn't look right.
2. Is there an install kit for a double din radio that has a groove cut out at the bottom to allow enough clearance for the face to open but still mount the radio flush??
3. the trim plate that comes with the JVC radio doesn;t fill the opening in the F150 trim panel....has gaps top bottom left and right...
Any advice, pictures of your install, recomendations on a double din install kit would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Hey wstad, you'll have to order another trim kit for it, you can't use the one it comes with. It's a Metra kit, can't remember the number right now. As for how far it sticks out of the dash, I was able to trim the kit at the bottom by a little more than an 1/8th of an inch and installed the unit flush with the dash. Faceplate comes out with ease, no issues with clearance. It realy needs the clearance at the top of the unit. Will try to post some pics of the HU in the truck and get you the kit number.

Hi Mitch...Thanks for your response....I think the metra kit is the one I have...How did you trim the bottom of the plastic piece? utility knife? I want to make sure this thing looks professional...
Thanks!
Thanks!
Hey man. Unless the install kit came seperate from the box the HU was in, you probably don't have the Metra kit. Mine has no gappage at all between the install kit, radio and the dash trim. I used a Dremal Tool and some patience to trim the bottom of the install kit after I scored a straight line with my razor knife. Again, will try to post some pics of it if I can figure out the new gallery procedures. And don't get me started on that one!
As soon as I get a chance I'll take a few shots of it and post them. Only had it in for about a month now and I have to say it is pretty impressive!

You do have to trim the kit by an 1/8th of in inch or so to get it to sit flush in the dash and still be able to remove the face plate. Otherwise the unit will stick out a 1/2 an inch from the dash.

Mitch - that install looks great! Right now, I have the radio installed and it is sticking out 1/2 inch....I bought two of those install kits so I'm going to try and trim one of them...I'll have to do it freehand with my dremel tool....hope the line comes out straight...thanks for posting that pic! now I know it can be done.
