1. How much of a noticeable difference is there between the roush tune and troyer's extreme tune? There was quite a bit of difference between Mikes and Roush's. Roush's would cut out at 95mph. I also had LT's and true dual exhaust at the time the charger was installed.
2. For those who went with troyer's 1lb lower pulley, did it make that much of a difference? I went with the lower pulley and it was a great improvement. I put out 9.5lbs of boost with the LT's
3. Has anyone sent their blower to Mike to get ported? If so, what do you think? and do you know who actually does the porting? Through mikes recomendation I went with stiegmeier to have my blower ported it was close to 400 for the work.
I want to gain the most power while remaining SAFE and without having to modify anything significant. (i like my warranty) Your best mods would be LT's with true dual's, Mikes tuning with the lower pulley upgrade and some electric fans. I had all that done except the electric fans and had 391RWHP/446RWTQ in 95* weather.
I did get my blower ported, installed it and I detonated one cold evening with out getting the tune modified. I thought I lost a piston but ended up just welding the plug up solid, but this was found out after the motor was pulled and disassembled. I went ahead and built my lower end with forged internals and main/head studs, had the exhaust side of the intake ported and dropped compression down to 9:1. I increased the lower pulley to a 6lb lightning and with the dropped compression and all the port work I am only showing 10.6lbs of boost at WOT. I have not got my truck dyno'd yet with mikes tune but I do run pig rich at WOT I am in the 10.5 AF/R range. I had an opportunity to let Justin at VMP tune my truck on his portable dyno when he was in Houston back in May and my truck made 412RWHP/489RWTQ but the big issue is the transmission side of his tune is pretty crappy. It is very undrivable in traffic the way he has the TQ converter locking and the boost bypass valve closing. It runs well at the strip but I have a serious traction problem the best I did was 14.3@101mph with a 2.28 60 ft time on a very greasy track. I wish that I didnt spend the money with Justin and just had Mike redo my tune which is what I will have him do when I get the extra cash. so I have been running Mikes tune just because it is so much better, doesnt have the power feel but that is because it was tuned for my old setup so it should be fantastic when I get it dialed in.
You wont be disappointed with Mikes tune and lower pulley you will be like a happy teenager all over again.
