Painting Wheel Wells
Painting Wheel Wells
Any recomendations for painting wheel wells? I have an Oxford White 06 F-150 and wondered if anyone has painted the wheelwells, Small stone chips start to rust against the white paint, I quess if it was any other color you would never notice, I'm thinking black under coating or rustoleum. any ideals??
Thanks

x2. Dont try to color match-- you will fail. Miserably.
The spots you have may not be rust. I have them on my white 2007 and had them on the silver part of my 1996. Couldn't see them on the red part. I thought it was rust to. But after rubbing with a little cleaner/wax they come off. Not sure what it is but may have something to do with road salt. Anyway, I to wonder what to do with the wheel wells. They get real dirty, and with everything open there's alot to clean.

It was probably rail dust. When my truck was new it had it.

I am looking at painting my wheel wells too, when you use the spray can bed liner I am sure that you have to cover your wheels and fenders really well, but do you also cover up the shocks and flap going into the engine compartment or do you spray over all them?
You dont need to paint the front wheel wells. They are already black. In the rear I didnt cover anything. I was able to paint everything without getiing it all over the shocks and wheels.
