Tire Air Pressure
Tire Air Pressure
Hi All,
Does anyone know what kind of tire air pressure is best when hauling a heavy load in the box? I have an FX-4 so i've got the rugged trail offroad tires. Should i pump them up to max psi?
Thanks

Try it and see what happens!! Not gonna hurt a thing and then you'll find out what works best for you!! With my truck, I was airing up to 48-50 psi on the rear tires when pulling my trailer (I run 35 all 4 corners otherwise) only to discover this accomplished nothing but to stiffen up the ride. There was no performace/handling increase from increasing the air pressure, so, I stopped doing it. Every tire and every truck combo is going to be different so give it a shot and play with different settings until you find something you like...Like I said, you're not gonna hurt a thing.
When I tow my trailer, it is at max PSI - 35. (same tires as you)
I believe 35 is the max for those tires. If you are worried about the load, you should get an LT tire in place of those passenger car tires.
