My buddy bought a Tundra to pull a 7500lbs travel trailer. From what I have read, its rated to pull 10,800...But the consensus in this forum is that with the trailer being loaded, passengers, and a load in the bed, the truck cannot handle this load. I asked him where and when he was traveling with this trailer. He did not laugh when I said that I needed this information so that I would not be traveling the same road with his "deathtrap."

He traded in his FJ with a lift. It had a sticker in large letters on the rear window that said "Hummer Rescue Vehicle." I tried many times to explain that it was cheesy and childish. Some will never learn or listen.

 

ha ha.... please be kind enough to pass that info on to me as well, I dont want to be on the road next to him when he has that loaded like that.

 

I hope that 7,500 lbs is the wet weight. Thats a heavy load.

Tundra= deathtrap POS

People buy F-150's to tow that much too, even though Ford says it's OK (except the fine print). F-150 has a better frame, Tundra a power powerfull drivetrain.

 

Id rather have the better frame, its not so much about getting the load moving quickly as it is how you handle it once up to speed

Your buddy is a shmuck, Hummer rescue? Ya, OK, but anyways he'll be finding out the hard way with his POS Tundra. 7500 lbs? C'mon, he's saying he needs to buy that to pull that, hell, mine pulled that before and well I might add. I'd be more careful when I pull a Bobcat around on a 20ft flat deck, but that day will come and go too.

Honestly, it's his lame excuse to buy that 4 wheel Walrus of a truck, or whatever the hell it is. Uh-oh, gotta stop, this is turning into a General discussion yoda bash fest. However on a lighter side, people should realize in real life, people who post in this section often will agree, strength of the truck overall pulls more and pulls well. Not needing to do 13's while doing it is another thing. What are you racing to, the next 200 dollar fillup?

i think my truck is rated to pull 2600 ibls, i have an 4.9 I6 and i pull 6k pound hay wagons all the time w no problem,im sure the tundra wont have much of a problem towin 7500 either

 

Ford rates my truck at 3,500 lbs... or there about... Rigggggght... Same with my old one... I pulled a 6,000 lb 26 ft boat with no problem and that was with stock 3.55's. My new truck, I regeared to 4.10's and I've hauled 4,200 lbs, and it was like nothing there. Gearing matters.

If you got a 401 hp engine, with 400 ft/lbs of torque... and you've got a 2.73 rear end, you'd be lucky to pull 3,000 lbs.
