I finally got around to swapping out my driver's seat for the power variety.
I purchased the parts, oh, 5 years ago
and they have been sitting in my garage since. I never had the time to do the install, but today I just broke down and did it.
Took about 2.5 hours to do. The only "non-standard" tool I needed was a T55 rachet bit for the big bolts on the floor. Other than that, I needed a standard screwdriver, a pair of plies, a socket set and a set of wrenches also came in handy.
The Parts:
--Power Seat Linkage
--Wire Harness
--Switch
--Switch Cover
I checked the manual and the factory power seat runs off the same circuit as the power pedals which my truck has. So I t-taped the power wire for the pedals and used the ground at the bolt in the driver's kick panel. I couldn't find the wire harness under the carpet though I really expected it to be there, so I installed a 2-wire plug harness from the auto parts store.
All-in-all, its really nice to have a power seat. The installation was not for the faint of heart. If you aren't technically inclined, then I recommend taking detailed photos as you disassemble so you can reference if need be. Also, a friend would be helpful. I did it by myself in this with no camera in sight.
Most importantly, do it in a garage at a minimum or, even better, in the winter! NOT in Florida, in the sun, on a black truck, when its 92 degrees outside.
