ok guys, got the new truck and im looking to do a bunch of stuff to it.

the alarm im looking at is the new Responder LE.

questions:

#1. will the system be able to integrate into my key pad on my drivers door? this is one of the biggest deals. if it cant be integrated, can i somehow retain the factory system so the key pad works?

#2. with the remote start bypass for the PATS will it cause the truck to be stolen easier?? how exactly does it work. if i get into the truck after being remote started, do i just put the key in the ignition and turn it to on and drive away?

i would like to get this system because of the added security and the extra features that can be tied into it. but i hate having something on my truck none functional. so i really want to know how to retain the factory key pad.

the viper is sweet- I have one, but no you can not use the keypad.. the only alarm that will is frreom kcautosound.com..Made by Code Alarm.

With the bypass, its still pretty difficult to get in and go..You have to have the key in, turn to the "ON", and tap the brakes, then go

In order for me to steal your truck with the bypass done. Either you need a cut key in the box or I would have to cut 5-7 wires (to keep it from being completely noticeable) and keep RPMs low. Plus break the wheel interlock...

 

so the key pad will become completely useless... that sucks. and thanks for the info on stealing the truck low.

OP, you start with the remote, get into truck, put key in ignition and turn to "on", tap brakes...then your good to go. If you press the brakes without putting in the key and turning it, it will kill the engine..

Just to clearify the keypad thing. You will still be able to use the keypad to unlock and lock the doors, it will not disarm/arm the alarm though. So say you lock your keys in, enter your key code, open the door, alarm goes off, grab your keys, turn off alarm. At least that is how my alarm that I just installed works.

OHHHH... ok.. thats what i was looking for. i wanted to be able to enter the code and be able to unlock and lock the doors. i could care less if it arms or disarms the alarm. i just dont want my keypad to become completely useless.

 

I also need quite a bit of knowledge of the alarm being used... Wire colors, etc...

Plus its more work than the factory box...

 

hey low, have you looked into the new responder LE??? its supposed to cut down you install times by like 2 hours i think. if you have looked into it at all, what do you think of it? i know it won an award at CES 08.

 

Are you refering to the Viper 7900?

 

i dont think so. on the viper website its diplayed as the Responder LE

 

Have been eyeing them for quite a while even before the public heard about them. But havent yet installed one. Cant tell you anymore than that.
