to get to the high / mid 15s
to get to the high / mid 15s
hello everyone .... im new to the ford pickup scene ...... and would like to know if it would take the same mods as my brothers 5.7 hemi , to get me into the 15s
his hemi is a 2004 5.7 Qc 4x4 with
pacesetter long tube headers ,
a cherrybomb extreme custom dual rear exit exhaust ....
Superchip set on the performance tune and a 6.1 cam
after some searching on the forums i now find myself looking into edge evolution programers
for exhaust i like the loud raunchy sound of the cherrybomb so ill go for that
but im still looking into headers, CAI , and wondering if theres a cam upgrade for a 2004 4door FX4 and also what would be a good gear ratio
sorry if there newbee questions but any help would do

Gear ratio depends on what size tire your running...I'm running 4.10's with a 28' tall tire, Hemis are stock with 3.90s
Any straight through exhaust: Magnaflow, Borla-Roush, etc...
Air Force 1 3.5 intake
what year is your truck? '04+ have the 3V's 5.4, earlier have 2Vs

I'm assuming you have the 5.4?
I have the 4.6 and it'll take some head work and cams + bolt ons to take a Hemi

Although with 18's I'm positive I would have hit 15's.

Some of the lower model regular cabs have 3.55 opens
Under the right conditions QC 4x4 HEMI's can run low 15's stock. My 00 SC 4x4 5.4 with intake, exhaust, efans, and 91 tune can't take my buddies 03 hemi with intake exhaust and 91 tune on 10 ply 35" BFG A/T's. I have beaten a few low 15 second cars as of late as well including a newer celica gts and new v6 mustang.
I know the Superchips on 91 gives 30+ to the rear wheels. The 6.1 cam also gives 35+ to the rear wheels as well. They sit right around the 270 rwhp stock.
At the absolute very least you are going to need to be full bolt on to compete with him. Intake, headers, exhaust, underdrive pulleys, e fans, and a dyno tune. You will probably need the cams as well.

with 3.90 gears ran a 16.20 at 86 mph thats a long way from low 15's in my opinion.The Titan ran a 15.60 at 89 mph,Chevy ran a 15.80 at 89 mph,Toyota ran a 14.90 at 94 mph and the F-150 ran a 16.70 at 83 mph.
