Pismo Easter Weekend

so i was home in slo for easter and was bored on saturday so i figured i would head out to the dunes for the first time(sadly i lived in slo for 10 yrs and never went) so i looaded up my tow strap,gf,and brother. we headed out and went all the way down and then turned back to head in. i went to follow a 250 pulling a trailer thinking he'd pick a good line. well the path is angled the opposite way so i have to slow down too much. i mad it about 25' and bogged down, luckily i thought quickly and let off before i dug too deep. tried to rock it a little bit but didnt get far. so i dropped the tires to 20(load range d's at 20 psi dont really flex/flatten out that much), dug the tires out and rocked it more. after that we just stayed on the sand highway but still had a good time. id like to go back out with the tires already dropped.go down a more major path, and keep the momentum up more. definatley saw a ton of sick trucks including a nbs 150 with a rize and probably 37 grapplers. 50 something bel air wagon on 37 or 38's and some $100,000 plus buggies took a couple of pics. definatley going back soon, especialy for only $5

badass place, I cannot believe you've never been living there!!! I drive around Pismo going up every dune there in 2wd, only put it in 4wd if I have to descend a slope slow and then go right back up one but it's common sense (start steering to take the slope at an angle if you start slowing down).

The one thing you are doing wrong is running 20psi, it's not a science. When you see your tires start to flatten you're golden, you need to run about 8psi or so to do well out there in 2wd. I mean you want to see the sides of your tires flatten out. Just don't go do donuts after doing this, you'll pop a bead.

The difference from 20psi to 8psi is ENORMOUS (even from 15psi to 8psi).

yeah i thought there would be more bulge at that pressure but the sidewalls are just too thick. i didnt want to drop it too far cause the little air compresor i have is really cheap and doesnt work so i had to drive to a gas station to fill up,also if i was spending more than a hour or so out there i woulda dropped them further.
