HELLPPP!!!!!! F150 5.4L Cyclinder 4 Misfire
I truly need some quick help from some of you. I recently posted a thread and did not receive any responses. Here is the thread that I posted.
I recently had a Cylinder 4 misfire code on my 2000 F150 5.4 V8. I pulled the COP and found that there was water in the plug. The day before I had driven through a rather large spot of water in the road and it splashed up all over my truck. I contributed the water in the plug to that so I dried off the COP and blew out the plug.
Today, a similiar thing happened and within a couple of miles the misfire came back. The service engine light has come on but I would bet it is a Cylinder 4 misfire.
How could water be getting inside the plug. Could it be a damaged or defective COP or is something more sever?
Please give me some help.

For starters I would recommend laying off the dukes of hazard car washes. Dry it out grease the boot at the bottom and ar the top with dielectric grease. Grease the coil connections as well. You may have a coil that has a crack and needs replaced. I've had this problem I avoid big puddles now.. Coils can be had on e-bay for $90 a set from Global..

The first thing to determine is if it is water only in the spark plug hole where the COP goes or if it is coolant. If plain water it just may be residual water that keeps getting in the hole.If only water I suggest removing the boot from the COP and completely drying it off and then use some dielectric grease on the boot to help prevent this.I would also blow the entire engine off wiht comressed air. It is also possible that the water shorted out the COP also.
If it is coolant in the hole then check the heater hoses that are above cylinder #4 they are notorious for leaking. If they are not leaking then it is very possible that either the intake manifold itself is leaking or worse case scenario the head has developed a crack in it inside the hole where the COP goes. I have seen this before and the only repair is replacing the head.
