I have a 2008 6 disc head unit with the Sirius reciever module from a F150that I would like to install in my 2004 F150. I currently have a 6 disc head unit in my truck that I will be replacing.

My first question is if it is possible and if so is are there any extra modifications that need to be done to make sure it operates properly?

the only problem i can see with this switch is the sirius. i dont think the 04s came standard with it but im sure it can be somthing that you can work around

 

Do you mean in regards to the antennae and power for the sirius?

 

I successfully put in a cd6/mp3 audiophile radio from a 2007 truck and a sirius tuner from a 2008 truck with no probs. Also, I was able to add the line-in tray because the 2007 radio supports it. My truck is a 2006 XLT. I also was able to put my sirius antenna under the top tray in the dash. The only time it cuts out is in a parking garage or under a big overpass. Where in the east coast are you? I'm in the western MA area. I am at work right now but if you need a part # for the sirius wiring harness or any help, let me know.

 

What about the variance in the wiring diagrams do you think its much different?

 

The radio wiring on the new body style trucks hasn't changed as of yet. Do you have other radio options now like a subwoofer, dvd or steering wheel controls? Also can you tell me what the part # is on the new radio you have. I can look it up to see what options it has and what type of truck it is out of.

 

I do not have a sub, dvd, or steering wheel controls. The part # for the changer is 8L3T-18C815-MA.

 

I looked up that part # but the site where I check doesn't have 08 radios listed. The 8L3T does tell me that it came from an 08 F150 so it shoud work fine in your truck. Does it have 2 or 3 grey plugs in the back? Also forgot to mention that you will probably need an antenna adapter but they are only like $10 or so. Here is the part # of the harness to connect the sirius to the head unit 6L3Z-14588-AA If you need to order anything I recommend going to www.tascafordparts.com. They are the cheapest online and it is actually a ford dealer so they have all oem parts. I noticed that you live in the east coast and they are located in Rhode Island. The only thing is you will probably have to hard-wire the power and ground from that harness. I don't think the 2004 trucks have the plug for the satellite power.

 

It has 2 gray plugs. I also need an antenna for the Siriuis any idea?

 

I purchased a factory ford sirius antenna off ebay. It is the type that usually goes on the roof. I just put it under the top tray in the dash and it works perfecly. Other members have mounted them on top of the dash tray or out on the wiper cowl. I was told that any sirius antenna will work, just make sure the plugs match up. Also that radio should be fine then. If you only have 2 grey plugs on it that means it doesn't run a factory sub which you don't have anyways. Good luck. Also where on the east coast are you? I'm in Chicopee, MA.

 

Thanks for tyhe help the information has been great life made easy thanks to you and F150online. All I need to do now is nail down the connector wire for the sirius and a wire harness for the stereo. I am in Delaware.
