Keeping stock HU
Keeping stock HU
Hi Guys,
I want to install my subs and amp from my old truck but I want to use my stock HU. I like the look of the dash the way it is so I don't want to mess with it. How do I (and how easy) wire my amp (rockford punch 100) and my sub box into the stock set up? I may even upgrade my old stuff with some new goodies but I still want to keep the stock HU. On my old CD player (pioneer) in my '97 it had pre-amp RCA cables...I assume the stock system does not...so what do I do?
By the way I did search and didn't find much...

You can use simple wire taps from Radio Shack to tap into the speaker signal going to your rear speakers for the LOC. The ones you want are red.
The speaker wire code for your truck should be the same as this:
Left Front + Orange/lt.green
Left Front - Lt.blue/white
Right Front + White/lt.green
Right Front - Dk.green/orange
Left Rear + Grey/blue
Left Rear - Tan/yellow
Right Rear + Orange/red
Right Rear - Brown/pink

So do I need to splice off of both sides or just one? I was thinking of pulling signal from say the left rear speaker and running it into my amp, or do I somehow need to get both sides?
I'm really not that dumb I just have never not had pre amp RCA outputs...

I always use FL and RR.
