Smile 93 f-150 transmission

Hello, I have a 1993 f-150 4x4 truck with an E40D transmission that needs to be replaced. I took it to a transmission shop and they wanted $1800. Would you recommend paying the 1,800 or could I trust someone and get a used transmission to save money? Could I buy a rebuilt one and do it myself? Let me know your thoughts. Thanks

Well if u have the proper equipment to pull it and replace it i would do it myself. Its not really that hard It took me and a buddy about 5 hours at school to replace a tranny in a 97 f150.

1800 bucks is not a bad price for a E4OD as long as the shop backs it up with a good warranty.
