Never used 1.0 so I can't say anything personaly about the differences between 1.0 and 2.0.
But I'm not aware of any polish that doesn't need to go on as thin as you can as long as you still get full coverage. As far as I know that's the general accepted rule since only the smallest amount that contacts the paint does any good and anything else is just wasted product.
