Hardwire Sirus power
Hardwire Sirus power
I'm thinking about hardwiring power to my sirius SP3(in my 04 Screw) to make it a cleaner install....how would I do this...I've read some posts about tapping into the yellow/green wire (from HU) but still not sure........as you can see I'm new to the whole wire thing so please forgive my ignorance......my concern is that the sportser 3 I have is 5v and I don't want to fry the unit......I've also read about adding an additional lighter behind the radio but I would like for my unit to turn off when I turn the truck off............any help is greatly appreciated.............THANKS in advanced

You didn't specify the year truck you've got...
so here's the wiring for 04+ & 97+ and a pic of the wiring for 04+ ignition wires
04+ HU power wire colors
+12V DC Battery(Constant) Lt.green/violet
Switched Accessory Pink/black
Ground Black & black/light green
97+
+12V DC Battery(Constant) Lt.green/violet
Switched Accessory Black/pink
Ground Black & black/light green
Thanks guys for your Help.........Still waiting for a reply from PIE about the aux problem....but since I already have the FRD-AUX converter I think I will go with the cig adapter for 'power hardwire'..............thanks again............by the way I have a 2004 Screw
[QUOTE=DRJ]If you buy a cig. lighter adapter all you gotta do is hook up the power lead (usually red) to the accessory and the black to ground, then you've got your switched power
personally I'd tap into the ignition wires under the dash

I spent this evening installing my Sirius Stiletto 100. I love it. It is like Tivo for my satellite radio. I tapped into the 12v that isn’t switched. It is always on, so my radio is always trickle charging. That way I can program it to record programs when I am away from my truck. I had it set up in my other truck and it worked like a charm.

Have to agree.
It's not just F150s. PIE in other Ford vehicles is nothing but problems.
