Here's a little "old" vs "new" comparison to go with Chris' old vs new contest:
I have a '93 F150 reg. cab 2WD w/5.0 3.55 gears. I also have a '97 Expedition 4x4 w/4.6L 3.55 gears. The Expedition will accelerate from a stop dead-even with my truck (both are superchipped) and it will OUT RUN it from 40-70mph. The Expedition gets about 18 mpg whereas my truck gets 13mpg.
Considering the weight and drivetrain differential, I'm absolutely positive that ANY truck w/4.6L could toast my old (only 66k miles) '93 in both power and mileage. I'd almost bet that the V-6s would even win.
They just don't build them like they used to-- Thank God.
