The New 50 over Law in Ontario

So what do you guys think of the new law?

Personally, I think it's good for many reasons, mainly getting the idiot street racers to slow down, but I also find it a bit on the extreme side.

I don't know anyone personally who'se been nailed it on, but in Kingston, they caught 10 people last month.

Regards
H

I am ok with it

Im near Toronto area. Im all for the 50 over rule. 30 over not bad 40 over pushing it. 50 over is way too much. especially with these younger new drivers that are in daddy's BMW flying on the highways. No reason to be traveling 150 on the 401.

There was a young kid who got stopped doing 165 in a 80 in daddys BMW.
The paper said he started crying like a little biatch, haha.

Hopefully pop gave him a much deserved *** beating and learned never to lend jr his car again.

I got caught 15 years ago doing 160 in 100.
When I went to court, the cop dropped it to 49 over.
I still had to pay $299 and got 3 points. (or lost 3 points, or whatever the heck happens, lol)

There's a tough new Street Racing law which passed here on October 2nd.

The law now means that cars will automatically be impounded for 7 days, driver's licenses are suspended for a week, and a minimum fine of $2,000 is imposed for anyone caught driving 50 km over the posted speed limit.

While there are no official statistics for street racing related deaths in Ontario, there have been 33 people killed due to street racing incidents in the last 6 years.

Man I love Kingston!! I went to St. Lawrence college there.

Anyways, I live in Barrie most of the big accidents were not that far from here. I commute into the city a couple days a week and people drive like morons on the 400.

I hope every idiot gets nailed and looses their car. I like Californias idea where they crush your car for street racing.

i personally think that california's idea of crushing is such a waste of many beautiful machines... Really, you've got to admit it is... why can't the state just turn all of those hot rods into patrol cars, or sell them at the state's profit?

I'm also for the law, especially 'cause when I'm on my HD with GF on back, some idiot whistling by at +30 over is not pleasant, hopefully the California crushing law won't be far behind... I kinda like that one.

Anyone heard of issues lowering the AWD version of the 150? Mine arrives early next month and sometime in the Spring I'd like to drop it 2"/4", but I've heard that AWD versions can't be done...

I don't like it
But thats only me
I would have no problem with the law, if they would increase our highway speed to 120 or 130

Millhaven to be exact.
My wife is a nurse for the city.

AJ's had a murder a few years ago, so they closed the place for a month or so, changed the name completly and gave it a face lift.

I guess they think the stigma of the murder was too damaging for the name.

Some black dude from Toronto was at AJ's, developed an attitude with one of the peeps who was just enjoying himself, and stabbed him to death right there.

POS, what ever happened to smacking each other around for a bit using fists, is that too old fashioned?

Anyways, AJ's is now called Ale House and it's crazy busy.
The line up to get in on w/e nights is a mile long.

I like the car crushing law, the only change I would make is to require the dumb *** ricer to be in the car when they are crushing it, then it would be perfect!

I love Matt's suggestion too, about increasing the 401 speed limit by 20 or 30, and then apply the 50 over law, makes perfect sense.

Man that sucks about AJ's WOW a murder? Geez thats sad. It only takes one stupid f@ck to ruin it for everyone. Hopefully he's doing time in Millhaven. Give him a punch to the head for me if he is there.

I would love to see the crushing law come into effect. Probably won't happen cause our government is too weak and wouldn't want to offend anyone.

i think the 50 over law is a little harsh.. espeacialy when ur sitting in a truck and it feels like your doing 80 when your goin 120....

if the government acually didnt give licenses to idiots then we wouldn't have this problem...

HOW DO SOME OF THESE IDIOTS EVEN GET A LICENSE?!?!?!

one day i floored it down the road and realized " OH CHIT" i going 50 over!!!!

it happens... espeacaily on long trips...

COP SLOGAN: "50 OVER, HAND IT OVER"
