Posted this on Aftermarket SUspension but looks like more people log onto this part


I am going to be getting a suspension lift put onto my truck in the next week or so. WIth that being said i am trying to figure out which kit to get. They all seem in the pretty same price range. I have a 2002 Fx4 Lariat Supercab!

So here is my options, hopefully i am right on the prices:
1. Rancho 4 inch Lift with 5000 Shocks --- 1880.95
2. Pro Comp 4 inch Lift --1,948.99
3. Fabtech 6 Inch Lift---1,919.94

Which one should i get. Pro's/Con's?? All these would fit on my truck if i am correct??
2 different shops told me different kits to get. One said to get the Rancho and the other said to get the Fabtech but i am wondering why no one said to get the Pro Comp??

I have done a lot of searching and not sure. I will be putting 35's with 18 inch rims on in the next month or so after i get the lift.

 

go with the 6in. y pay the same amount of cash for something 2in. shorter

 

I know that is what i was really thinking. Why do you think the other shops would pick the other 2 brands ??

 

if you dont mind spending a few hundred dollars more id consider going with the fabtech 6" lift instead of the procomp.

Why don't you look at the RCD 5" it's a nice kit and if you want the extra inch you could just adjust he torsin bars a little

 

Given the choices listed, I'd go with the 6" Fabtech.

 

National tire and wheel has the 6 inch Fabtech for 1400 under the "suspension specials" column. Just look in any petersen's 4 wheel and off-road magazine. It won't say the brand, it'll just say 97-03 ford 6" $1397. Once you call them you'll find out it's Fabtec.

Looks like im going to be going with the Fabtech. Can anyone check for me to make sure that this will fit. I have checked on 4 wheel parts. But just want to make sure i got a 2nd opinion!!

 

Something to consider but shock options are limited or non-existent with the 6" lift...except for Fabtech shocks. And they're not even the good Dirt Logic shocks either. Shop around at every single brand you can think of that makes model specific shocks for this model of lifted truck (Pro Comp, Rancho, Edelbrock, Bilstein, etc) and you will see they are all for the generic 4" lift. I have yet to see any for anything greater. Does the 2" really matter?? I don't know. You sure don't want to fully extend the shock when the suspension has travel left...that much I do know.

Just throwing out ideas as it may be something to look into. This was one of the big deciding factors when I picked my Rancho 4" lift...that and I still wanted to be able to get in my garage

 

the two best kits for your truck are the fabtech & the rcd.
the rcd has a little better design & includes bilstein 5100s
