Pioneer 3900iB orPioneer 390IB

I normally shop at Crutchfield, but the one guy said he received a great deal from sonicelctronix. Looking at the Pioneer 3900Ib as well as the Pioneer 390iB---they look the same, campare the same, but the box ---well,one says "Premier" on it. What gives---I want to buy a CD play for my wife's car---should I go back to Crutchfield?

Isn't a Pioneer a Pioneer?

I think the premier is supposed to be better quality model like a step up.

I just installed the 3900MP I wanted to step up from the stock and I am happy with the results for the little money I spent. I also got pioneer speakers and added a set of pioneer tweeters. Does all I need sound much better than stock and I don't have much invested.

As far as a dealer I don’t know anything about sonicelectronix.
For my setup I found a second rate site that I won’t mention the name, when all was said and done could have saved me $60 as opposed to crutchfield. I (as always) made sure the parts I needed are listed as "in stock". I placed my order and it was supposed to arrive in like a week no prob. 18 days later the site said my order was still processing. I send them an email just looking for an update. No response 3 days later send another email and still no results finally I call them. The guy says the pioneer head is factory backordered for at least six more weeks. He asks me if I want to remove the head unit from my order so that it can be shipped. I asked him if they normally list items in stock that they don’t have and don’t call customers or even an email to let them know. Then the fact they just ignored my two emails. I said cancel the whole order please. Honest to god within an hour or canceling the order both my emails got replied to as order was canceled....go figure!

Then I went to crutchfield spent $60 more and had all my stuff two days later and nice instructions and pictures of my truck and what to do for the install. Plus all the harnesses and installation brackets I got for free. So my long winded reply is not to say all other sites are crap but sometimes fast reliable service is worth a bit extra, Just my .02. I am a happy crutchfield customer and don't believe I will look any place else in the future.

Good luck with what ever your choice.

Premier used to be better than Pioneer (regular) but now they are both made on the same assembly lines. And Pioneer warranties the Premiers for two years instead of one. Thats the only difference anymore.

radio

I just installed a pioneer, DEH-490IB. Premier..This aftermarket radio kicks but. I bought the radio on ebay for 110.00 even came with the ipod wire. I bought the wireharness from crutchfield, I would go for this one.
