V10 Swap

V10 Swap
I know i have seen someone on here that has done this. I have a 99' f150 and have purchased a 2004 v10 complete with the entire wiring harness, modules, trans and transfer case. Its from a f350. It would appear to not big a huge big deal as it looks to be a slightly longer 5.4 which is whats in my truck. I have not yet done a trial fit and my big concern is the exhaust. Has someone done this ??? Got any pics???
Thanks
Josh

Wow, now that's gonna be a cool project if you can work out all the details!! I've 'dreamed' about that kind of swap into an F150, but of course, I don't have the resources to do such a thing.... (time and money being the biggest 'cons' of the deal!)
When you get this deal going, it would be great if you could keep us all updated on it's progress! I don't recall anyone here doing such a thing, and documenting it, but you could be the first!
Best of luck to ya and I hope you can make this happen!

I'm sure you will also need the cluster, the gem module, fuel pump. the engine is 4 inches longer. exhaust manifolds should fit but the angle of the dump will necessitate some exhaust fabbing but not much.you will have to do a lot of harness work as you will need to swap the entire harness under the hood and probably in the cab too. if you had an ecm from a 97 or 98 with a 4r100 trans and two valve motor, and your 04 is a 2valve, it would be easier. since you have drive by wire on the 04 engine, you will also need a throttle pedal assembly from the donor truck or go with the early ecm and an early tb to use with you cable. hope this helps. I too am wishing to do this swap, but being married with 4 kids under 11 doesn't bode well when it comes to these types of things

Next Weekend
The project should commence next saturday. My 5.4 has 350000 and cant tow worth a darn. I have preatty much the whole bit of stuff from the donor truck i got it from a guy who converted a v10 f350 to a diesel. I dont expect too much trouble. My dad and my dads good friend who both have worked a ford dealer for 30+ years and are both ford master techs are doing most of it. I will try for as many pics as i can. I figured the exhaust would be a trick as the guy didnt save the f350 y pipe. The mech team figures all esle is basically bolt on as the v10 is part of the engine family. Will keep you guys updated.
I figure i will need a ls upg for the diff though

Underway
Finally get to update. I ended up being quite sick till today. Only got some done saturday before i was toast. Got the old stuff out. Got some mods made for it to fit. I had a delay with the wiring harness. I have a repl on the way. It would appear to be a fairly easy fit. The only mods so far at the trans mount and motor mounts. The original y-pipe seems to fit. The wiring will be the most fun it would appear. Wont really know till i get the actual harness i ordered. Hope to have wiring done in a week or so depending on my work schedule.
Thanks

Progressing
Well the wiring is 90percent done. I have the engine harness done and the pcm pinout changes done. Quite easy with the correct tools. Hope to have it installed and tested in the next couple days. Then the engine install and driveline mods will continue. The one interesting thing i found with the pcm is the coil order is quite different. The coil pins need to be moved to match the v10 pcm. That was the biggest difference and of course adding the pins for the extra coils and injectors. Lots of solder and shrink tube . I have some of the stuff documented but not sure if it would apply unless you were doing a '99 to '04 engine swap.
