What is best oil for new 2007 5.4 F-150?
I currently have a New 2007 F-150 Supercrew 5.4. I plan on doing the 1st oil change at 3000Mi & then every 5000 there after, as per owners manual maintenance schedule. I was going to change w/ Mobil 1 5w-20, do you guys who have experience with this 5.4 think that this is a good oil to run at 5000mi intervals? I have never had a 5.4 before, as this i s my 1st Ford Product?

dangerous question to ask. Lots of opinions here. Just run the MC 5-20. You can't go wrong. Now to put it in perspective.... my 1985 ranger 4x4 has 280,000 miles on it. At 200,000 miles I took the pan off and measured the crank. It was at new specs. No kidding it was within the new vehicle tolerances. this truck used nothing but 10-30 dino oil and fram filters, which are about the worst filters you can buy. to many people go for so much over kill with oil it isn't funny. It is your truck.. do what you want. that is my advise. Take it or leave it.

To me, oil is oil, changing it is the important part. I've always run Castol GTX 5W-30 and it's still a beautiful shade at change time, I do it every 4000 km's or 2-3 months as it works out. If you want to run synthetic, nows the time to swap. I am a true follower of product advertising, favorite driver: John Force, sponsored by Castrol and Fram, well sh-t, that's what's on the truck right now. Motorcraft oil is the only other I've used. Where I buy is usually limited to brands, so I haven't really strayed much. Quaker State, Pennzoil, Mobil, Havoline, don't worry, just the mileage matters. Oil filters I say Motorcraft or Fram, whichever end works best for your filter wrench or socket or hand.

mobil one is good oil, albeit expensive oil
as others have mentioned, i too have had great results in previous vehicles using nothing but pennzoil and fram filters...however, good synthetics are hard to beat
i found a good deal on castrol syntec and used that on my last change...i'm going to send a sample for analysis at 3k just for fun to see what it looks like since my plan is to bump my intervals up with the switch to synthetic in order to offset the premium
a filter with a good anti-drainback valve is important...motorcraft is hard to beat, and wix is excellent as well
