ok i know it is illegal, yes, but does removing the cats actually make a decrease in fuel economy? im wanting the best possible exhaust system i can get with the best performance, thats why i wtill need an X and some headers, which i still cant decide shorty or long tube? its a 4x4 so i dont know.

 

Long tube headers are the only way to go. Dynatech stainless steel headers are the best you can buy... Id cut all 4 cats off and install 1 high flow magnaflow cat on each side, then the x pipe and mufflers, that is what i have, and its about the best setup in my opinion. I have about $1500 in my exhaust system...

 

ill admit as good as that sounds, being 16 i dont have 1500 to spend on it...and im saving for a procharger in 2007. It also seems like i read somewhere that edelbrock shorties can add up to, i believe it said, 28 horsepower?

 

no thats just a lie... I had gibson shorties, all shorties are the same, I gained no hp and no torque, i took those off and put on dynatech long tubes, i gained 30 hp and 35ftlbs torque. If you dont want long tubes, save the money for the supercharger.

 

how about pacesetter?

 

I had pacesetter shorties before the gibson shorties, and they rusted and cracked within 3 months, they completely rusted off of the collector in 6 months... stay away

 

anywhere i can get dynatech without the high flow cats already attached for < or = to $500

 

no, i got the headers alone for mid $800's

 

I have a set of Pacesetters on my 05 and they are built very well, they perform and sound great! and only cost me $400 .(ceramic coated) thats $1100 less that the dynatechs.

 

how long have you had them on?

 

Around 6 months and they still look like the day I put them on. Theres a guy on here I think his name is Huitt. He's had his a while and just added a supercharger. and they seem to hold up well.

yea. I'm sure the dyna's are prally better and make a little more power and TQ. but for the price I could not pass up $400 bucks for some Longtubes.

High flow cats are a waste of money. Removing your cats is a waste of time. Take it from somebody that doesn't have them on his truck.

If nothing else, it makes your truck stink like a 1985 ford, when it's idling.
