In northern CO., I was quoted $415 for my F-150. September promo for $40 off the normal price of $455. For color, add $250 -- the shop uses a local body shop to color match to your truck. I was all set to pull the trigger, but then I remembered that I needed to register my truck ... to the tune of $470. There goes my liner.
I just don't understand why CO needs so much revenue. Very high sales tax (7%), pretty high state income tax, and an enormous excise tax on vehicles. I've lived in WA (no income tax, killed the excise tax a few years ago), OR (no sales tax, no excise tax), VA (4% sales tax [2% on cars], low income tax, no excise tax), and TN (no income tax). I swear that CO has to be second only to CA in taxation!
Here's a great example of how the state literally takes money out of a local business' pocket and into their own by virtue of an ungodly excise tax.
