I built a setup virtually identical to that one, but also wired it to turn on the IC pump whenever the fans are running so that the whole intercooler systems is cooled - very advantageous while sitting in the staging lanes to cool down and get more consistent.

Looks like the way to go. I have a 12" fan on my air/air intercooler that runs when the truck runs. Mine is more for air movement while sitting in traffic.
It is wired through a delay relay which waits 30 seconds when the ignition is switched on lowering start up amperage.

Yes, those are Spal 6" fans. Mike at MADD Enterprises sells them, along with the relay and wiring instructions. I ran a manual switch into my overhead console.

By the way, this is only good for between-rounds IC cooling, along with a switch on your IC pump. No use on the street.

What would be the cost for the heat exchanger fans? Where do I find the info on this setup? I already have a manual intercooler pump switch for cool downs.

Actually, I've run mine in city driving and have seen a definite difference in downstream temps - especially in a lot of stop and go driving with low airflow across the HE.

Now, whether or not, it's worth it for normal city driving with no WOT 'normally' used is a different story.

That's really what I was thinking, Bird. I have no doubt IAT2's would be lower, but it's really not needed. Just trying to save this guy some money if he thinks HE fans are going to give him 30 hp on the street.

IMNSHO, with our engines frequently teetering on the edge of detonation, anything that lowers IATs is worth doing.

Looking to install twin fans and found this site.
The twin unit will fit stock and the AFCO rads

www.sporttruckdirect.com

Look for the 'Interchiller' fan kit.

A neat looking set up so maybe I will give these guys a call and see if they can ship to the UK.

What i read in some other forums is that the HE fans can drop the IAT temperatures 2-3 degrees. Talking about HP again i would prefer to have this installed instead of those fans, they claim 50 degrees temperature drop.

There is good information here:

That's on an air-to-air intercooler. Performance would be far less on an air-to-water.

For an air-to-water, cooling the water with the air conditioner system is the equivalent.
