Thanks, Vic. I've considered much you suggest.

First, the CD player(6 disc version) works fine. Good sound. Must be the tuner.

Have swapped antennas with no better results. Antenna wire looks good on both ends. No fray or exposed cable. Maybe broke somewhere under the insulation? I do need to try another antenna wire to be sure. If it is the wire, looks like beeotch to run through the console to the antenna. Though I'm sure I can accomplish the job if it is.

Would love to try someone's HU if I can find a match.

As far as the transmitter, I may be able to get someone at a local install/upgrade shop to run a test.

I'm not against an upgraded unit, but I've been happy with my stock, so far.

Can't understand what may have caused this issue. Would make sense if I'd done some work on something that may have caused a short or screwed up a ground.

Speaking of, do you know where the head unit is grounded? May have a bad connection there.
