If you have a good driving record, I would recommend checking "not guilty" and then plea bargaining the charge down to reduce the points and cost. If you have lots of prior convictions, the DA may not plea it down. At that point either you continue "not guilty" and go to trial, or plead guilty and pay whatever fine the court tells you.

Another option is to plead "not guilty", attend a defensive drivers course, and then talk with the DA and the judge. That will often get your sentence reduced.

If you just check "guilty" and send it in, you will receive a notice indicated that you now have a conviction on your record and a bill for the fine amount.

Also, if you have 3 speeding ticket convictions within an 18 month period you will probably have your license suspended.

Whatever you do, don't ignore the tickets. That will get you in deep doo doo very quickly.

I base this information on my wife's recent experience with speeding tickets in NY.

Edit: Sorry, I just noticed you live in Mass., so I'm assuming you have a MA license, in which case the license suspension part won't apply. The rest is applicable. Your decision should be based on your prior record (what impact will one more conviction have on your record?), the convenience of returning to NY to plea your case, and how much money you can afford to pay our corrupt government.
