Honeymoon is over - 1st oil change

Well I finally found something to complain about on my new 2015, oil changes are a PITA. Someone came up with the bright idea for an air diffuser tray directly under the oil pan with no way to access the drain plug without removing it. It's only 4 small bolts to remove but it's still a PITA. I also wonder how durable the tray is, it's a soft flexible material, not plastic, more like cardboard with sound deadening material glued to it.

Looks like a Fumoto valve may be in my future, I think I could reach in from the side to operate the lever. Probably go with a 90 degree elbow and tubing in order to drain without having to remove the diffuser tray.

I'm confused. I just changed my oil today and the drain plug was very easy to access and the filter was WAY easier to access then my 05. I didn't have to remove anything.

I think the original post is a Ecoboost. What motor do you have?

Oil changes are never exactly fun, on my '05, hence why I only do it once a year.

EB have extra underbody shields to maximize aerodynamics. They need all the help they can get to squeeze a few more tenths of MPG

Why not just leave it off to see what it does to your MPG's. If you can't see a big difference just leave it off for good.

I have the 3.5 non ecoboost engine and it has two composite shields under the transmission and engine. The shield under the engine rattles a little bit.

With only 4 bolts to remove, that isn't so bad.

My wife's Infiniti has a shield under the engine that has 12 bolts and 4 push pins to remove in order to change the oil. The good news is that the oil filter is really easy to get to after removing all that.
