15 FX4 suspension to soft,unstable?

I just got a 2015 F150,FX4,3.5 ,Lariat, supercrew with 20 in wheels and I hate the way it rides and drives.
I am not new to the F150 ,I have owned a 08 FX4,11Eco Fx4 and three Raptors,so I never bothered to drive a 15 before I ordered one.
The truck feels like my grandpas 1976 Lincoln. It flotats down the road and is very unstable in the turns,it bobs and weaves so much it will spill my coffee.

My wife even said this truck is like a big yacht and to floats does it have a bad shock? Is it possible it was built with the wrong shocks??

Part # front shock FL34 18045
Part # Rear shock FL34-18080 EC

Stock shocks can be a little soft and a little more "compliant" on the road.

I don't have any seat time on 2015 yet, so I can't say what is normal, just making a general statement

With the 15s going on a diet they will inherently drive differently than older models.

Have you done easy things like check and adjust tire pressures?

Maybe swing by the dealership and drive a few other 15s to get a feel for what is "normal" for those trucks

Welcome to the forum, perauto! As someone else suggested, you might want to visit the dealership to see how other truck's ride compared to yours. You can also have the service department take a look. Additionally, I'll notify your regional customer service manager that you're having this concern; send me a private message (PM) with your details, and I'll make it happen. In your PM, please include your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership.

Hi Perauto, my last truck was an '04 FX4, and my new one is the '15 3.5 EB Sport. I agree the suspension feels much softer in the new truck to me. I don't think its unstable though. Just last week, a van in front of me shifted lanes quickly because a car was stopped in front of him. I had to quickly weave right and back left to get around the stopped car. Not sure how I threaded that needle, but I made it around safely. I would like to do something in the future to stiffen up the suspension though.

Ford is probably trying to match the softer ride of the RAM which has coil springs in the rear. I personally like a compliant ride. It can be compliant and still handle well.

Thanks for the responses.
I just got back from my dealer and drove another 15 FX4 and it was the same truck except had Goodyears mine has Handkooks. The other truck was firmer and did not lean over as much when turning, possibly the shocks were damaged in transport?
I have an appointment next Thursday to have it looked at, also my tires are at 41PSI and the door says 35 lbs but more air would make it ride stiffer. I hope to solve the problem as I am a huge fan of the F150.

Tires can make a huge difference. My 2005 Dodge Magnum Hemi came with Continentals that had really soft sidewalls. It handled like a mid-70s Crown Vic which means it wallowed like a barge. Thankfully they wore out in less than 20k miles. I replaced them with Michelins which made an unbelievable improvement in the handling and it still had a nice ride.

My 15 has goodyears and I agree the suspension feels soft. I have gone over a few bumps where the truck has jumped out to the side. I'm planning on putting the Bilstein or Ranchos shocks on to gain the 2" level so hopefully that will solve any soft suspension problems!

I can't comment on the f150, but I had a similar issue on a new 2013 escape. The suspension didn't feel soft but the escape did wander a lot on the road and almost seemed unsafe.

Discovery #1 was frustrating: all tires were over inflated. One of which by 10 psi!
Discovery #2 was something I had never read before: the owner's manual stated something to the effect that erratic handling might be noticeable for the 1st few hundred miles until the tires wear-in!
Getting the tire pressure right and about 500 miles made a big difference.
