LED headlights conversion

Hey all,

I wanted LED headlights for my Lariat (501A) package and came across two sites that looks like they are the most viable ones (and they look like they might be cheaper than OEMs)

The first one is the plug-and-play headlights from Raptor Retrofits (their site says they cost $1600+) and the other site I found sells LED bulbs that you can just change out from your existing halogens. They're GTR Lighting (gtrlighting.com).

The LED conversions from GTR Lighting is interesting to me as they can just be swapped out and they're plug and play too. Check these out.

http://www.gtrlighting.com/gtr-light...00-lumen-bulb/

Has anyone gotten theirs replaced yet? I like to hear results and stuff.

I don't know about aftermarket, but I picked up my Platinum yesterday, and tried the OEM LED headlights last night, and they are outstanding!!!

the oem led lighting are specially designed for the f150 with leds mount flush with the lens. The grt lighting are bulbs with the light directed in a different way. Like comparing apples to oranges. Unfortunately the oem led lights are only available with the $7000 502A package. I know because I wanted the led lights and had to pay up.
They are outstanding!

I was never comparing the OEM LED headlights to these. I merely said I was interested in these as a possible cheaper solution to getting LED headlights in mine.

I'm happy for you guys who can pay up the $7,000 for LED headlights, but it does nothing to further my inquiry.

The 701A package on the Platinum is only $2450

I am interested in doing this for my 2006 f150, looked into that kit as well as led replacement bulbs in general. Of course since we both have stock halogen reflectors(I think yours does anyway) replacing them with led lamp gets into the same issue as replacing them with hid's, glare city. However, for what videos and some stuff I read, this kit actually has a descent cutoff in the stock halogen reflectors but still not as good as with a halogen lamp. Also, in the reviews and videos these led bulbs have poor distance compared to halogen. Then do indeed put out more lumens but it is spread out over a larger area in front of the truck. Good close visibility doesn't project though. This is clearly seen because with those led lamps, when someone shoots them next to a halogen the led bulbs have no "hot spots" that the halogen have. People think that is good but it's not, those two halogen hot spots is where the stock reflectors are concentrating the lights so it shoots out for distance.

All that being said, I skipped the led drop ins. If I was going for an upgrade, hid with projector housings are still king. For right now I am running silverstar Zxe halogens; they are same lumens as stock but higher color temp, just looks better.

Sorry Kiddo421 if i sounded off topic. Believe me , I did want to spend the extra 7000. I want just three things on my new truck. Power fold tow mirrors, led lighting and hitch assist . Thats it. I was forced to get the 502a package with many options that I did not want.
Ford has you over a barrel with their packages. I wish it could be ala carte.
I am happy with the truck.

LED headlights conversion

For the price you are going to pay for the LED headlights that are actually subpar compared to other brand LED headlights you can build or have some one build you a set of projector retrofits that will blow away every 2015 LED headlights.

Those GTR PNP LEDs are cheap and junk. Very little actual light output with glare on top of that.

A HID projector retrofit can be had for as little as $200 upward to $1000 depending on you build it yourself, or if someone builds it for you, also depending on quality of parts you use..

Thanks for the reply guys. I'm still looking around so for now, the halogens are fine. It's just too bad they went back to halogens after doing HIDs in the 13's and 14's. You'd think they'd have HID's standard and then LEDs as an option with the 15's. Would've made better sense to me if they did that

Look at this guys FB site below. Not sure if he does full conversions or just adds mods to headlights. Worth reaching out to him.

Does anyone know where I can get a fog light LED conversion? I don't like the beautiful blue/white hue of the headlights but the ugly yellow of the fog lights.

The retrofit source makes direct replacement LED fog lights for the 2015s
