The 3.5L EcoBeast is 6 qts. It's the only one that uses 5W30 oil too. The other mills use 5W20 (although I don't know anything about the 2.7L).
I suspect it's easy for the techs at a dealership to get confused. And, I suspect the most highly qualified ones are not put on oil change duties.

Thank you Jim and Jack! Jim, does 7.7 quarts fill to the top of the dipstick hash-marks?

On mine, it does. They can vary for some reason. Just FYI, mine used about half a quart in 5,000 miles. Then after I got about 10,000 on it, it quit using. I am going for an oil change this afternoon and it has just barely dropped on the stick with 5,300 miles on this oil change. I have 16,700 miles on it now.
Another thing, I always check my oil before I leave the dealership. They sometimes leave it a quart low. They did that twice on my 5.4 and once on my 5.0.

Most of the lube techs I know don't make too much more than minimum wage and are overpaid at that. Crossthreaded, overtightened and under full or over full are pretty much the norm.

I've been very pleased with the Quik Lane service at my dealer. Each time I have checked it, they had it right. So far as I can tell, my 5.0 has not consumed any between changes in over 70,000 miles. There's a big window where both customers and managers can observe what's going on in the service bay.

I also STRONGLY suggest checking the paperwork before you leave. It's getting pretty common for drivers to leave with the wrong viscosity oil in the engine. I'd check the level AND look at the filter to make sure it's new. I had a friend with a van that had the dealer do all of the oil changes. At 70,000 plus miles, we were coming back from a hunting trip only to have the oil gauge go to zero. After it cooled off the pressure came back. Took us almost all night to come 150 miles. The problem.....it still had the factory original filter on it. It was so plugged up it wouldn't even go into by-pass. The filter weighed a little over 12 lbs. It wasn't long after that we were putting a new motor in it. Your money, your truck.

Had the oil changed last night at a small East Texas dealership. They put in 8 quarts but charged me for 7. I questioned it since I reviewed the invoice and saw 7. They called the tech to the front and asked. He said 8 went in. When I checked the dip stick it was just slightly above the top dimple.
Labnerd, good point on the filter. I always look at that as well. Plus, I observe the tires to see if they have actually been rotated.
This is a nice little dealership in a town of about 12,000. They wash every vehicle they service as a freeby.

I don't get to enamored with Ford Service. I had mine in to get a rear passenger door latch replaced. They scratched the door, put the interior unlock rod in the wrong mounting hole and dented the back corner of the truck. Since they had already washed it, they rewashed that back corner with dirty water to disguise it.
I'm in search of a new dealer.

On Mom's Lincoln they left the old oil filter gasket on the housing. Of course it leaked all of the oil out. Luckily she had only driven a mile or two and never ran the car low on oil. The stealership tried to have her drive the car back to get checked out!!! Based on my insistence they sent out a rollback and towed it in. They gave her the car back still dripping oil off the bottom, yup they didn't even clean up their mess. She raged on them and reluctantly they cleaned it up. The final insult was they acted like they did her a favor by correcting their mistake and no, they didn't give her a refund.
I haven't found a dealership yet that I trust to work on my vehicles. Ford makes a good product but loses it with the dealer network.

That is what I told the salesman the day I had my truck in for the door latch. I buy with the X-plan and I told him I could buy the truck anywhere at the same price but the service department was what broke the friendship. Then I found out they mucked up my truck. I got an email on my birthday from the sales guy that he hadn't seen me in a while and I explained why. He wasn't excited to hear I would no longer be buying $50K trucks every 4 years from him.
