GM sales outpacing Ford

The Silverado/Sierra are the twins I was referring to. Their sales are up over 11% from last year, while the F150 is down just over 1%. The Canyon/Colorado, while having the shortest time on the lot, is far behind in sales numbers. The article makes it sound as if the F150 is in danger of losing its number one status for the first time in 38 years, but the fact is, the numbers are counted by brand, and Chevy and GMC are considered two seperate brands. There were numerous times in the last thirty some years that their sales combined exceeded Ford. I just hate to see it happen again.

Ah! Having been interested in a Canyon and hanging out on the Colorado/Canyon forum where they are referred to the twins I didn't make the connection to to other GM pickups.
One downside to the F150 for me is that they are everywhere. Rather enjoyed the Tacoma because they weren't that popular and I knew when I bought it in 07 it was the best choice for me at that time. I would be perfectly happy with the F150 if it wasn't the sales leader because right now it's the best choice for me.

Given that dealer incentives are excluded on the 2015 F150's vs. the few remaining left over 2014s, I'm not surprised. (Takes two to compete with the F150 )
Plus GM incentives (even on their "special edition" Silverado/Sierra) are likely helping their numbers as well.
I will say the one surprising thing is that I'm not seeing a lot of local businesses (in PA) updating their fleets.

It's been a while since I've been on here. I've gone diesel (Ram) about a year ago. My opinion of slower F150 sales is the look. I was behind a new F150 and a new Tundra last week and from a 100 yards, the Ford looks more Tundra-like than a Ford. The front end has a Toyota look to it, as well. I have owned way more half ton Fords than any other half ton. I probably would not consider a Ford right now because they lost the Ford truck look to me. It's too bad they didn't keep the look of the Atlas concept.

I guess I'm not the only one that thinks tundra when I see the new 150. The new truck looks nothing like the atlas. That opinion/fact has been discussed in many automotive publications. But that really isn't my main issue. If it has been covered on other threads, I apologize. Didn't look. I like Fords and hate Toyotas and it makes me mad that they look alike especially from the rear (similar taillights and tailgate stamping).
And yes I've had good luck with my 2014 Ram. 17 mpg in town and 21 highway. About 12 dragging my enclosed car trailer back and forth to Michigan. 22,000 miles in a year and no warranty claims. A nice truck.

The 2015 F-150 and Atlas Prototype are very similar looking. If you want it to look more like an Atlas, put on a 2" lift, 22" wheels and 35" tires.
Here is a picture automotive blogs used to claim the F-150 and Tundra were the same.
The 2015 F-150 is not even remotely close to looking similar to the Tundra other than they are both pickups.
The only area that somewhat shows similarity is the grill tapering and the stepped hood line, but to be fair that's been on the F-150 since 2004 and Super Duty since 1999 and earlier Ram trucks.
The lights are completely different, the bumpers completely different, the fender wells are also completely different and the body lines. If they weren't both red and with chrome grills they wouldn't even be considered to be the same.
Toyota did say they wanted to make the Tundra look more like a traditional pickup so if you are seeing any Ford in there that is why. They also tried to copy F-150 interior styling.

I think those two trucks look a lot alike. I just wish Ford would have used a more distinctive Ford only look. So that it differentiates itself from the others. Seems like most cars today resemble one another in certain ways. Back in the 50, 60 and 70s, you could tell a car coming down the road by its grill and headlight placement. Not near as easy today.
