I got my lariat 3.5L TT, FX4 Ruby Red, 3.31 rear end loaded a week ago last Sunday. I test drove the Ram Ecodiesel, the Ram 5.7, the Chevy 5.3 (i think).
Which engine and configuration did you buy?
To me the ecodiesel is an orange the two Ford turbos and even the v-8 are apples. I don't tow, I do haul but nothing heavy so the diesel didn't make sense to me. I owned the Chevy 5.3 in my Tahoe for 5 years, flawless engine absolutely perfect but alas uninspiring compared to the Ford Twin turbos. Aside from the engines, I love the look of the Ford 1000 times better than both the Ram and the Toaster, I mean the Chevy.
Ride, power and handling go to Ford in my book, maybe becuase of the weight drop.
Ram had an awesome interior and the Ford and Chevy were tied for second.
Gas mileage on the 3.5 sucks but I only have 850 miles on it so maybe it will improve after the break in period. Maybe the 2.7 would have been a better choice for me, but of course I went bigger like a dumbass. Ecodiesel definitely has mpg advantage but then again diesel is a buck a gallon more here. Anyway you'll love your Lariat no question.

The load carrying capacity (payload) on the Ram Ecodiesel is a joke. I think an old Ranger has a higher rating.

Not only the cost of Diesel, but also keep in mind the Ecodiesel engine option alone is nearly $3000. You can buy a heck of a lot of gas to put into your Ford for that.
