Question of the Week: Do you want the 6.2L V8 back for 2015?

but yes, they've gone to hell with the power. everybodys power hungry, they get it, it usually goes to their heads and they usually hurt/kill/near miss someone.
theres no need for all the power they put out now. if they'd go a bit less power nuts, they'd do even better on mpg.
I don't miss the 6.2 per se, it was overkill. I do miss the brute simplicity and reliability of it that you can't get in any f150 engine now, though the 5.0 ain't bad. I'd love a replica of the 6.2 downsized to a 4.X or so

I think ford should go the other way and up size the 5.0 they already have the parts to do it. The 5.0 is based off the modular engine platform and so is the 5.8 out of the gt500. Ford could just slap the coyote heads on a 5.8 shortblock and get a N/A 5.8 putting out around 380-400 hp and probably 425-450 tq. More than enough for any half ton and adequate for a superduty.

if both for and customers weren't so power hungry, mpg would be easier to get, and they'd be more reliable etc. but of course that last point is a no no too, cause then they can't make $$$ fixing it.

Wouldn't exactly call the 5.4L "less than impressive" considering when the engine came out nearly 20 years ago Of course it would be considered obsolete by the engines that are in the trucks now. That's why they were replaced obviously. I would hope technology progressed in that time.

x2 I hate v6s period, in anything. be more open to the eco if it was an 8 (even I6)...though I'm still no much on turbos

Turbos are actually nothing more than an engine heart driven air compressor. They use the expanding hot air that is being exhausted and use this wasted energy to turn a compressor wheel. The compressed air is then ducted back into the engine to boost cylinder pressure. I know some of the early applications were less than perfect, but the bugs have been worked out since then.
