And you better PRAY it dont break outside of warranty...

Take a look at resale value of Super duties with the 6.0 and 6.4 diesels, you cant give them away, they are ****, many years older models with 7.3s going for much more usually.

That's an extremely interesting article, MeanGene. I'm excited to see what that thing and the little one liter are going to do. That 3 cylinder uses a timing belt too! Just goes to show that the old tech can be improved and used to be very advanced.
A friend of mine races and told me that many have switched from timing gears/chain to a belt on their push rod race engines, says that it is a better way to go.

Race motors also get pulled frequently and rebuilt... bad comparison

A big thing with the 8 and 10 speed trannys is the fact that 3 or gears will be overdrive, being as 2 gears are overdrive on a 6 speed. Why are these trannys not direct or still only 1 overdrive gear like the 4 speeds and a numerically lower rear end ratio like 3.08 or 2.79. direct drive is still the most efficient drive system, the power goes in and outbecause the input shaft is directly coupled to the output shaft and no transfer of power to another shaft resulting in a loss of efficiency.

BTW Adrian, my stick would also require a splitter that works on the low side as well as the high side

Because everyone would still get 3.73 rear ends and complain that they can't get the same fuel economy that was achieved with the higher gears.

Ram's 8 speed has two overdrive gears.

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 R Final drive
4.696 3.130 2.104 1.667 1.285 1.000 0.839 0.667 3.300 2.810
